Our clients are an inspiration. Our clients are more than their disability. Our clients have sought out Candeo services because they are trusting in the quality of supports we provide. Our work at Candeo inspires others to develop a voice, to develop confidence and to develop a community where all are included.
Easter Seals Iowa provides exceptional services to ensure that all people with disabilities or special needs and their families have equal opportunities to live, learn, work and play in their communities. We provide a wide range of support for adults with disabilities to promote independence and opportunity.
Iowans with Disabilities in Action (ID Action) is a nonpartisan, statewide initiative dedicated to generating greater civic and political participation among people with disabilities. Collectively, Iowans with disabilities could make up one of the state’s largest blocks of influence; however, research shows that a lack of confidence, apathy and other barriers prevent thousands from engaging in advocacy.
Special Camp is for the mentally handicapped. It is a great opportunity for them to experience the unique atmosphere of camping. The summer of 2017 we had around 80 campers. We enjoyed having campers from across the states of Iowa and Minnesota.
Living Waters is a Bible-preaching, non-denominational church in Des Moines, Iowa that exists to spread a passion for God’s Glory through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are for the Gospel. We are for the City. When you visit for the first time, it is our prayer and hope that you experience God in all His fullness, beauty and Salvation!
A digital how-to cooking magazine designed for people with intellectual disabilities to help promote an independent lifestyle.
Men and women, 19 and older with special needs, are eligible to participate in the Adult League. Games will be played on the same days as our regular league–Saturdays. And all games will begin at 4 PM. We have no extra “practices”, but game day attendance is needed.
Mosaic is a faith-based organization serving people with intellectual disabilities. We believe that every individual is a person of worth. Together Mosaic staff members, volunteers and the people we support work as partners.
Mosaic Haven is a service organization that uses proven state-of-the-art techniques to resolve stressful mental health struggles. We bridge the gap by providing a non-judgmental environment to empower parents and clients to confidently navigate through challenges.
Today we simply don’t know enough about autism. SPARK—a landmark autism research project—aims to make important progress possible. SPARK stands for ‘Simons Foundation Powering Autism Research for Knowledge,’ and the mission is simple: we want to speed up research and advance our understanding of autism to help improve lives. The purpose of Hope’s One Body Special Needs Ministry, is to reach out to the community of individuals with special needs (children and adults alike) to share the everlasting love of Jesus Christ! This is done by providing these individuals with access to worship, service, fellowship, and discipleship, while also walking alongside all members of their families and care providers. We encourage activities that help everyone experience God’s love, and events that foster a sense of community.
Team Inspire is our program uniquely designed for individuals with special needs. Through our “out of the box” activities we strive to provide chances for our participants to become more active in multiple aspects of health. Past events with Team Inspire include: 5k Race Training, Team Laser Tag, Picnic in The Park, Century Cinema Movie Theater showing of “Where Hope Grows", Golf Cart Driving, and Iowa Cubs Game Box Seats.
